Mrs. mojo risin'

I could give you a list of excuses why I haven't been posting much (cooties, post-cootie catch-up at work, nice weather etc...) but I'd rather just show you some beautiful things instead.

Truth is I've been in a knitting slump lately, but this weekend, I found the magic elixir to get the old mojo risin' again:

Maaaaaalaaaaaaabriiiiiiiiigooooooooo
in "Pearl" (a luminescent grey with shimmers of pale lilac). Believe the hype. It IS that soft and worth every stinking penny. I've got enough to make a generous-sized scarf that I will never, ever take off. Ever.

DH, my cousin and I took a little road trip to Buffalo NY to see the Francis Bacon exhibit.

If you're in driving distance, you should go see it, it's great.

Here's me in front of a Rothko. By sheer coincidence, I have a poster of this exact painting in my kitchen.

We made our way to Buffalo via Toronto, and of course had to stop at the much-touted (and deservedly so) Lettuce Knit in Kensington Market.

Besides the Maaaaaalaaaaaaabriiiiiiiiigooooooooo, I also indulged in some:

Oceanwind Knits Merino
in a tempting "truffle" colourway. It's silky and beautifully dyed with flecks of colour rather than sections. I can't wait to see how the colours blend when I knit it up. Not sure what to do with it though. I've only got 1 skein (175 yrds), worsted weight. Probably a hat or a neck-warmer.

Hand Maiden Fine Yarn
"Ottawa" (92% wool, 8% viscose) in a pale robin's egg blue. It also has lovely blips of gold and brown that don't really show in the picture. I have enough to make a fitted cardi.

Fiddlesticks Knitting Lace weight
in Mulberry. I don't know what mulberries taste like, but I'm loving the juicy colour. This 50% merino/50% tussah silk blend is destined to become a shawl. I'll be visiting the Fiddlesticks website for the perfect pattern. Unless you have other suggestions...

That's some beautiful yarn stash you've got going there. I love the silvery grey Maaaaaalaaaaaaabriiiiiiiiigooooooooo! Welcome back to the knitting fold.

Nice stash enhancement action! And if I were just a little closer to Buffalo I'd go to the Bacon exhibit, he's one of my favorites...

Francis Bacon! Wow! I saw what I think was that very exhibit in London about 4 years ago. Have you read much about him? He was a character.

The Malabrigo is amazing. Don't let anyone put it down and say that it pills and all that... I have a few Malabrigo items that have worn very well indeed. ENJOY!
