Warm weekend

Oooh, it was sooo cold this weekend. We had our first "real" (staying on the ground) snow.

But it was so warm inside, with the help of some comfort knitting, beeswax candles and cups of tea.

I also caught up on my sleep, listened to some sublime music (in memory of the recently departed John Taverner, rest in peace), and added several items to my never-ending knitting queue:

Fairy snow cap
Stars in the sky shawl
Port o' Leith pullover and cowl
Firth o' Forth cardigan
Siri cardigan

Lots here to keep me warm. I hope you're keeping warm too.

  4. Même si l'hiver n'est pas ma saison préférée, ces images que tu nous offres me donnent envie de sauter dans un avion (je pourrais trouver un prétexte... voyons, livraison à domicile de jolies laines françaises ?? ☺)

  7. oh...i almost don't dare to click on those links...if i do i just KNOW that it means that my want-to-knit list will grow even longer : ))

i LOVE your home, so beautiful...peaceful..cozy.
and i hugely envy you those big beewax candles. can i ask you if you have bought them online? we only get hold on those very thin "long" ones here in Norway.

we are having beautiful winterdays here now. it is cold but sunny and it is predicted snow this coming weekend. i looked like a walking woolen cocoon when i walked to the mail box earlier today. no need to freeze when one is a knitter : )

we celebrated my dear friend G's 40'th bitrhday this weekend and like always when we Norwegians celebrate we end up with having baked wayyyyy too much cake. the "up-side" of it is that the next days means indulging in left over cakes : ) i tasted one yesterday that i have never tasted before and i hugely look forward to have a slice of it soon again now together with a cup of tea. it has a taste combination of cinnamon and lime....a heavenly combination.
oh and by the way: my gift for my friend were something that i think you would have liked too (i remember an earlier blog post in here were you spent some days in a "silent" peaceful place too):
we will go on a four day Irish inspired advent retreat in December. a "silent" retreat with only the beautiful sound of live Irish harp music to hear and the sight of the woods all around...so looking forward to it.

wishing you a beautiful winter week sweetest nicole,
    v

  13. oh dear, i have the wanties now. i want snow! i want your space and everything in it (i love your style, your peaceful calm asthetic, love it so much) and i want to knit all those patterns. oh dear oh dear. but, since this is the week of our thanksgiving here, i must stop wanting (lusting) so much and be thankful, grateful for what i have.
maybe i could knit the hat and buy a candle or two tho? :)

  17. I know this is entirely unrelated to knitting, but somehow I stumbled across your blog- and those candles are just fantastic. In fact, I am a rather jealous of your entire set-up there!
