Wow, what a fun run that was! This was my first experience with a large sports event and I had a blast. The weather was amazing, I felt strong the whole 10k (no blisters yay) and I was so touched to see how many people showed up to cheer us on. Little kids were high-fiving us all along the way. And my worst fear of coming in last didn't materialize. In fact, I think I did pretty well for my first try. I'm certainly stoked for my marathon this fall! Thank you to everyone for your encouragement!
I also got some post-race rest by sitting at my spinning wheel. Spinning definitely has become a major "happy place" for me.
Especially when working with such lovely stuff. It's Hedgehog Fibers.
I love the soft, tender colours. Not sure yet what it will become. I'm tempted to not ply it, and instead knit with it as singles to get a pretty striped effect.
What do you think?
I don't know exactly about the stripes, I think anything made with these would be amazing !!!! Well done on the spinning, I wish I could see you spin ! So happy this turned to be a relaxing activity.
ReplyDeleteWELL DONE on the 10K ! Oh my, what an accomplishement already ! Way to go !
Big hugs, have a great week ahead !
xoxo
Félicitations on the 10K, Nicole!
ReplyDeleteWow to 10K, that's a fantastic achievement, I cannot seem to run more than 3 miles!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have really achieved something with spinning too, those colours are beautiful and so very you.
Congrats on the 10k! That's amazing. Running in a race has always been a dream of mine, but I don't know if it will ever happen because I get such bad shin and knee pain.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful yarn. I know you'll make something awesome!
I owe you an e-mail.
Beautiful yarns, love the colours!!!
ReplyDeleteYay on the 10K! Fantastic that it wasn't too tough for you.
ReplyDeleteThe yarn is yummy looking. Anything you make will be a winner I'm sure.
I would love to ask a probably silly question...what happens when you knit with singles? I spin but I was always told to ply and that is what I always do, even though I don't know why really...can you knit with any singles? and does it stay together? I love those colours, really subtle and beautiful! I feel inspired to get spinning! :D
ReplyDeleteI know that whatever you do with all that fiber will be stunning and beautiful. Congrats on the 10K!!! BIG hug for you ♥ from Mexique.
ReplyDeleteJoli comme tout! Et bravo pour le 10 km!! marathon ou demi à l'automne?
ReplyDeletewowsers on the run and on the spinning marathon.
ReplyDeleteI love the colours so much that I would knit it as is and make something uniquely nicole out of it for yourself.
big hug
margie
What beautiful singles! I'd leave them, but that's just me. :) Congrats on the race!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you make with that gorgeous yarn.
ReplyDeleteAnd...nice job running a marathon!
Gorgeous, Nicole. The colors remind me of macarons. Can't wait to see what you make with it.
ReplyDeleteI guess those activities complements each other well!
ReplyDeleteYour yarn is absolutely beautiful, reminding me of sea, sand and shells.
lovely!
ReplyDeleteLovely spinning and congrats on the running! I feel like you only just had your leg injury a few months ago. #blogtime.
ReplyDeleteI would love to pop these pictures on the Hedgehog Fibres pinterest if that is ok with you?
ReplyDeleteMáire
Maire, of course you can put these in the Pinterest group.
ReplyDelete:)
Beauuutiful! I understand your obsession! Love to spin. Don't do the spinOlimpicks though. ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove the color changes.
Beautiful spinning (and I love the "stones" patches as well). Your site is always soothing for the eyes! (Oh and congratulations on the 10k! In my 20s and early 30s I was a competitive marathon runner (I'm now 42) and bear the scars of 25 marathons, so at this point I'm inclined to say, "Don't do it!" ;) I understand though the desire to experience the accomplishment of running one. Good luck with your training!) Stephanie (Ottawa)
ReplyDeletePersonally I think your singles are perfect just as they are ... soooooo beautiful :D
ReplyDeleteyou left a comment on my blog and so i came over for a visit and wow it is beautiful over here. i'll have to come by more often:)

ReplyDeleteOh my. So lovely. Could you ply them in a way to preserve the stripes?
ReplyDeleteAlso, I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award – you can read about it here: http://pansneedles.wordpress.com/2012/06/05/catching-up/
Much respect for running the 10k, I am so unfit I think I'd be hard pressed to run 0.10k !
