When I was a kid, I sort of resented having a birthday in February. I couldn't have a cool pool party like my leo sis. But now, it seems so fitting that my special day happens in the midst of my favourite season. I know I sound like a broken record, but I really, really love winter.
This weekend was perfectly cold, clear and sunny.
The ideal weather to don my skis and get out to celebrate turning 42.
The paired-down landscape revealed many treasures.
Also, left-over birthday cake and hot chai tea are the perfect post-ski treat. Who needs a pool party?! Not this northern girl.
Thank you everyone for your lovely comments on my last post. You're so encouraging!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NICOLE!
ReplyDeleteSo happy that you had a wonderful birthday on such a fabulous weekend.

I hope that knitting is for you because it appears to be some of your favorite colors.
Happy Birthday Nicole!!!
ReplyDeleteIt was a perfect weekend to enjoy the outdoors no?
Blue skies, snow and only a wee bit chilly :)
I some time's feel annoyed at having my birthday in February too if only for the pure and simple fact that its always forgotten!
Happy birthday to you!
ReplyDeletehappy birthday :)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!
ReplyDeleteMine is the 20th of December so it was always overshadowed by Christmas ; ) my parents and now my husband have always made me feel very special despite the busyness swirling around it but I have come to see it as a day within a larger time of celebration. Skiing and cake sound like good accompaniments to yours!
I hope it is a really wonderful year for you xx
happy birthday!
ReplyDeletewhat is that gorgeous yarn you are knitting with?
Bon anniversaire!

ReplyDeleteI have an early spring birthday and my daughter has a winter one so I agree -- us northern gals know how to celebrate this beautiful season. Happy birthday!

Joyeux Anniversaire!
ReplyDeleteI'll be turning 42 this year as well... but I'm a Leo girl like your sis : )
happy birthday! I also have a February birthday. Being born & raised in the Caribbean, the month made no difference as the change in seasons were seamless to us. Now living in the states, I celebrate my birthday trying to say warm with many layers, friends, family and some tequila (in the form of a margarita). I Love my "winter birthdays"
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely photos! (I especially love the embroidered birds in the last photo.) And happy belated birthday! It's funny that you just turned 42 - I'll be 42 in mid-May. :) Stephanie (Ottawa)
ReplyDeleteDear Nicole,
ReplyDeleteI have just stumbled across your blog via Knitsofact and I am so very, very happy to meet another Northern Girl. Winter is my favourite season and February my preferred month since my son was born after Valentine's Day 8 years ago. I love the fact that this month is still in the throws of winter but heralds spring too. I love your snow pictures and the knitting delightsj below are heartwarming.
Happy, belated birthday to you and here's wishing you a glorious year.
Stephanie
