Stocking stitch is widely maligned for its mind-numbing simplicity, but I find it completely soothing. I was thrilled when Hannah Fetig asked me to knit a sample of her
Contented Cardi.
Not only is Hannah (aka
Knitbot) one of my favourite designers, but this swingy, drapey beauty features row upon row of lovely, meditative stocking stitch. It also has a delicate cable in the back, just to keep things interesting.
Knitting with such a luxuriously
yummy yarn certainly doesn't hurt either.
I was very tempted to keep it!
Thank you
Hannah for the opportunity to make this for you. I hope you are happy with the results.

Wow, that's lovely! I want to make it. I love the color, too. Reminds me of clouds...
ReplyDeleteYou're certainly right about the meditative qualities of stockinette stitch; I get the same feeling from ribbing too, haha.
The pattern, yarn and colour are absolutely lovely - a very calm colour combined with the meditative stocking stitch - bliss!

the yarn color is wonderful with your eyes. like it was meant to be yours.
opps - i just checked again and there are no photos of your eye color here - but i remember your eye color as this lovely blue. i hope i'm not mistaken and that i look like an idiot.
ReplyDeleteMichele,
ReplyDeleteMy eyes are indeed blue. A lovely comment like that could never make anyone look like an idiot. You are sweet!

This sweater is amazing on you. I've observed that the more simple the knit, the more beautiful the result. There is indeed something to be said for stockinette, no?
ReplyDeleteLovely...lovely...lovely...this is probably one of my favourite colours...
ReplyDeleteYou're SO talented! One day I hope to learn to knit...just need more time:-)

ReplyDeleteit was fun to see that on your needles when i last visited ottawa and now to see you wearing it with such grace.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the simplest patterns have the most stunning results! Beautiful work and choice of yarn and color are perfect.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! And the color looks right up your alley. I would have been tempted to keep it too.
ReplyDeleteYou do look awfully contented in this cardi, gorgeous job! I feel like there's a bit of chasm between the things that a like to knit, lots of colors, and the things that I like to wear, often simple. Must grow up to be like you. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous cardigan, perfectly knit! I love the detail at the back.
